Day 2

Today was fairly slow as far as far as working on the overall project goes. My team and I were able to review notes from yesterday's interview with Rachael Sands and point out specific areas of improvement in interview skills. One of the things that Mr. Corona pointed out to Zach and I that more communication needed to happen between the camera operator and the interviewer in order to receive the best shot possible for the interview. He also pointed out a few interviewer tips such as directing a subject to avoid eye contact with a camera after answering a question and how little movements with the boom can make a huge difference in sound quality.

After we discussed these points of correction, we then interview Michael Ackerman, the dean of Animas High School. This was an excellent opportunity to utilize some of the new interview techniques that I learned this morning and I believe it ultimately led to a more accurate and more fluent interview. I noticed that as the interview process became smoother, Mr. Ackerman was more open and vibrant when it came to answering questions. I was also able to take the lighting lesson that i learned yesterday to light Mr. Ackerman's walls that was very visually pleasing when seen through the camera. The interview took only a short amount of time so the rest of the day was left open to further planning.

For the remainder of the day, we devoted our time to more planning for the rest of the week to come and working on a backed HOS Talk that was having trouble airing due to a problem in the file conversion. As soon as this issue was resolved, we were then able to begin editing the HOS Talk. This was particularly challenging because all three of us have very different styles of editing. For instance, I began to work on a sequence (a scene or a series of shots that fit together like a scene) and edited the footage in the way i thought was most accurate to the goal of the sequence. However, Zach  edited this sequence in a totally different way which was difficult to consider at some points. I can see this as a very possible problem during week three when all we will be doing is collaboratively editing the footage we will collect within the next two weeks.
